Julie Lipsett gained her Bachelor of Architecture in 1990 and has now been working for 35 years in the profession
Julie relocated with her family to Byron Shire in the Northern Rivers region of NSW in 2007, after 15 years employed in major architectural firms in Canberra.
Drawing on her years of passionate commitment to the study of architecture, Julie now works in her private practice in the Byron Bay hinterland on residential, small commercial and education projects. A recently developed speciality is in designing small secondary dwellings such as studios, cabins and granny flats. Julie has also worked on a range of mid-sized commercial projects including the Cape Byron Steiner School Multi-Purpose Hall.
As a young graduate architecture student, Julie worked in London for a year, and in Edinburgh for 6 months, and traveled extensively over the following ten years. She loves travel to this day. While overseas, Julie discovered that her favourite creative works, whether art or architecture, are deeply connected to the place from which they have evolved.
This simple discovery and a keen awareness of regional context continue to inform her contemporary design solutions.
